It is home to the Bell County Courthouse built in the Renaissance Revival style in 1884.

Nearby is Stillhouse Hollow Lake, with its 58 miles of shoreline for boating and fishing activities.

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is located in Belton. It has a 178-year history as the oldest continually operating university in Texas.
