Looking for a small-town charm with a convenient location in one of the fastest growing areas in Central Texas?  Hutto is approximately 27 miles northeast of downtown Austin in Williamson County.  Hutto was recently recognized as “The Top Place to Raise a Family”, the “#1 Local City (in the Austin area) for Young Couples”, a Top 100 place in a major market to locate a business.

With a beginning as a rural, agricultural based community, Hutto has grown into a commercial center and bedroom community while maintaining its sense of small-town community.  The growing high-tech businesses, manufacturing, and service jobs contribute to the attractiveness of Hutto as a place to live.

Hutto Independent School District provides a quality education to the District’s more than 9,600 students.  Hutto ISD focuses on developing community involvement and support through strong relationships and caring for all kids. They strive to create world-class problem solvers and 21st – century learners.

Hutto proudly embraces its recognition asn the “Hippo Capital of Texas.”  Legend has it a circus train stopped in Hutto in 1915 and a hippo escaped to a local creek.  The hippo was eventually captured and left with the circus. The high school adopted the hippo as its mascot and the beginning of a relationship with hippos was forever cemented. Hutto has over 4,000 hippo statues throughout the town, the largest being Henrietta, a 14,000-pound concrete statue in Hutto’s Old Town.

One of the best public golf courses in Texas is The Golf Club at Star Ranch. The course with undulating fairways and greens flanked by pristine white sand bunkers promises to provide an enjoyable experience for both the novice and scratch golfer.
