Known as the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin attracts many people who love live music events and the variety of experiences associated with a vibrant entertainment hub.  South by Southwest and the Austin City Limits festival are a couple of the largest music/entertainment events hosted in Austin.  With over 200 venues around Austin, there is no doubt everyone can find their preference of music being played somewhere nearby.

Austin’s reputation as an attractive place to live and work makes it one of the top places for major companies to establish their presence with either their main or regional headquarters.  Several major corporations have their headquarters in Austin; AMD, Dell, Tesla, National Instruments, Kendra Scott, Whole Foods, Yeti, and others.

Over the years, Austin has developed its downtown core into a vibrant, active center of commercial and residential life.  The city offers miles of hiking and biking trails around Lady Bird Lake, canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding on the Colorado river, plus some spectacular views from the top of Mount Bonnell.

The historic Texas State Capitol is located in the heart of downtown.  The Capitol is known as the largest state capitol in the United States. Just to the north of the Capitol is The University of Texas and the original “40-acres”and home to the Texas Longhorns.

Almost every day nearby parks are filled with people enjoying the weather and letting their dogs interact with other K-9 friends. Austin is a very pet friendly city.

Between March and October, just before sunset, around 1.5 million bats will fly out from underneath the Congress Avenue bridge. People will come out to the Congress Avenue bridge just before dusk to watch the amazing sight as the bats fly out from underneath the bridge.

While Austin’s official slogan promotes it as “The Live Music Capital of the World”, it also has an unofficial slogan of “Keep Austin Weird” promoted by the small businesses in Austin and promoting the entrepreneurial spirit of the City.
