Killeen is a city in Bell County in the Central Texas area, known for its location next to the U.S. Army’s Fort Hood military base. 

The economy of Killeen is strongly dependent on nearby Fort Hood and its military members and families.  Fort Hood’s military base is one of the largest in the country.  The Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport serves the area for air transportation. 

Students in Killeen are enrolled in the Killeen Independent School District. The District serves the Central Texas communities of Killeen, Fort Hood, Harker Heights, and Nolanville.  There are 31 elementary schools, 11 middle schools, 5 high schools, 3 special campuses, a state-of-the-art Career Center, and an Early College High School serving approximately 45,000 students.  KISD is the 4th most diverse district in Texas and the 24th largest district in Texas.

Looking for some outdoor adventures visit Stillhouse Hollow Lake.  It is known as the largest reservoir in Texas and is a popular destination to enjoy fishing, swimming, boating, and camping. Take a hike at nearby Chalk Ridge Falls Park or take the challenge of indoor rock climbing at the Boulders Sports Climbing Center
