Burnet

The City of Burnet is a picturesque city located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country near the Highland Lakes, just 50 miles northwest of Austin and 90 miles north of San Antonio at the intersection of State Highway 29 and U.S. Highway 281. This small town of 6,000 residents has accomplished tasks many thought to be difficult or even impossible for any rural community, much less one of this size. It is known as the Bluebonnet Capital of Texas.

The city offers a myriad of amenities for our citizens including broad ranging recreational opportunities, an excellent school district, Seton Highland Lakes Hospital, close proximity to higher education, an outstanding airport with 5,000 ft. runway, unique shopping, museums, historic district, and exciting annual festivals.

Looking for outdoor activities, Lake Buchanan and Inks Lake are nearby as well as the underground features of Longhorn Cavern at the Longhorn Cavern State Park. Looking for some of the best Hill Country golf, visit Delaware Springs’ 18-hole championship course..

Take an adventure by riding an Austin Steam Train’s Hill Country Flyer and witness the Burnet Gunfighters at the Shoot Out Corral for a Wild West staged gun fight. Enjoy the Bluebonnet Airshow at the Highland Lakes Squadron Commemorative Air Force at the Burnet Municipal Airport, Kate Craddock Field.

Haley-Nelson Park is the city’s 51 acre park featuring soccer fields, an amphitheater that hosts concerts, disc golf, picnic pavilion and several walking and hiking trails open to the public.
