Enjoy an inviting, friendly community with a small-town charm while continuing to grow as a vibrant place to live. It is conveniently located 15 miles south of downtown Austin and 65 miles north of San Antonio on the I-35 corridor. For people new to the area, Buda is pronounced Byoo-duh.

Buda was designated by the Texas State Legislature as the “Outdoor Capital of Texas” with its vast amount of parkland per capita. Including the Historic Stagecoach Park , a 51-acre nature park with walking trails and scenic features. The park offers a pavilion, amphitheater, playgrounds, a pond, and a scout fire ring.

Take a tour around the nationally recognized historic site of Downtown Buda. It is home to six blocks of historic buildings, restaurants, shops, and places to relax. The Downtown Buda Farmers Market is held every Sunday, and the Downtown Buda Merchant’s Group has a live music, food, and drink event the first Saturday of each month.

The last weekend of April, the Buda Lions Club holds the annual Buda Lions Country Fair & Wiener Dog Race . Enjoy the weiner dog races, arts & crafts, and sanctioned BBQ cook-off.

There are a variety and diversity of major employers located in Buda: Baylor Scott & White Health , Ampersand Art Supply , Deep Eddy Vodka distillery, Centex Materials , Amazon Fulfillment Center.

Hays Consolidated ISD has over 26 district campuses serving over 20,000 students. There are three comprehensive high schools, six middle schools (6-8 grade), 15 elementary schools, and an alternative high school. Hays CISD schools have award-winning music, theater and athletic programs.
