Georgetown

Established in 1848, Georgetown is the beautiful historic city in Williamson County and serves as the county seat.  The historic County Courthouse sits in the center of the traditional town square with a vibrant new downtown filled with dining, shopping, and entertainment.  The downtown square has been called the “Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas”.

Georgetown has the “small town charm” while it is also one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S.  Located along the San Gabriel River, Georgetown has breathtaking views of the Hill Country along with miles of hiking and biking trails.  There are a variety of neighborhoods to fit your lifestyle, from the Old Town with its mix of Victorian homes, cottages, and bungalows from the 1900’s to the golf course community of Cimarron Hills on Hwy 29.

In 2020, Georgetown ISD was rated as the second top school district bySmartAsset. The district continually achieves high proficiency ratings in its English and math curriculum, along with a high school graduation rate of 93%.  It is also the home to Southwestern University, the oldest college in Texas.

The 1200-acre Lake Georgetown provides those who love the outdoors with plenty of opportunities to hike the numerous trails, fish, boating, skiing, and camping.  The Inner Space Cavern is one of the best-preserved caves in Texas.  It has cave tours to experience the thousands of stalactites and stalagmites.  Or experience the cool refreshing water of the Blue Hole, a lagoon boarded by towering limestone bluffs.

With the diversity of neighborhoods like Sun City’s over 55 community to the college students at Southwestern University, Georgetown offers a great blend of living, shopping, and entertainment for everyone.
