Located in the heart of Texas, Belton is a unique city with friendly people and a rich history. It was founded in 1850 and is located along the famous Chisholm Trail. It is approximately 60 miles north of downtown Austin on Interstate 35. The Belton Metro Area is in the center of the rapidly growing high-tech corridor between San Antonio and Dallas/ Fort Worth area.

It is home to the Bell County Courthouse built in the Renaissance Revival style in 1884.

The city of Belton offers more than 18 parks with 8 miles of walking trails weaving through the community, along with other amenities to enjoy. Miller Springs Nature Center provides family friendly fun and outdoor activities open to the public. It has over 260 acres, with 25 acres of wetlands and more than 10 miles of trails. Nearby is Stillhouse Hollow Lake, with its 58 miles of shoreline for boating and fishing activities.

Belton ISD serves over 13,600 students across its 19 campuses. It has 3 high schools, 4 middle schools, and 11 elementary schools.

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is located in Belton. It has a 178-year history as the oldest continually operating university in Texas.
